MIGRAIN: Narrative

 1.) Moana is a good example since it uses Todorov's narrative structure of equilibrium, disequilibrium and new equilibrium. 

2.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5i5ERDE_2E (opening to House M.D) The opening already clears the narrative of the show to be a hospital drama due to the imagery used of CT scans and X-rays, already creating an enigma code of "what is being shown on screen?".

4.) An example of binary opposition is the classic "good vs evil" story line, for example 'Harry Potter' where Harry (protagonist: good) and Lord Voldemort (antagonist: bad).

5.) The example provided in the sheet is when a police officer captures a criminal in a criminal drama the ideology of law and order is emphasised to the audience. 

6.) Both engima and action codes bring upon feelings of suspense and drama which both release (small) amounts of dopamine which makes the overall experience of watching the media enjoyable but also ensures that the audience will return if the show was enjoyable enough. 

7.) Episodic narrative (series): when a story is broken down into multiple episodes, each with their own story but they all contribute to the overall meaning and ending. 

Overarching narrative (the serial): a continuing storyline which reveals itself after multiple episodes/seasons/chapters. 

Mixed narrative: when multiple different narratives form the story (like different perspectives or mixes of genres and styles to create a unique story). 

Multi-strand overlapping narrative (soap narrative): uses multiple interconnected plot lines which all follow one main storyline. Usually weaving multiple character backstories together into the storyline.

8.) The adverts use a narrative by presenting an ideal world where all clothes are bright and clean however if the audience recognises the dirt of the players and realise that the clothes will soon be dirties this creates and problem that'll need solving. Persil will be considered the "hero" since they will solve the issue by removing the stains off of the clothing.

 1.) I chose A-level since I enjoyed literature and the act of analysing different texts. I assumed that media would be the same thing only with different kinds of media like movies and magazines.  2.) My media consumption

 Newspapers: 1.) I'll usually read whatever newspaper has been left on a bus or train seat.  2.) I usually flip to the part with the word cross of the part of the newspaper that's being advertised on the front page.  3.) I never read the spots section, I've never found an interest in it.  4.) I tend to read the stories about something new that's been discovered or the part of the paper where all the shocking things are written like car crashes and stuff of that kind.  5.) No 6.) I sometimes click on random articles that have come up on my recommended page, its not usually the same company though. I just click on whatever seems interesting when I've got nothing to do.  Magazines: 1.) I like to read the advertisement section or the part where you learn to do new things since I find it interesting.  2.) English (by Tarun Thind): PART 1: 1.) Throughout the entire movie the two characters are shown to be young delinquent teenagers who do little but cause trouble. However once you finish the film you find out that both the boys are deaf, so the "fights" that they had gotten into was due to them not being able to hear what others had to say and they took their hostile and angry actions as threats. You also are able to see that the two boys have a generous and somewhat caring personas, they steal bananas and give them to a homeless man who they had terrorised previously. So it't not the most charitable thing in the world but its the most generous things the boys are show doing in the movie.  2.) At the end of the film the two characters and revealed to be deaf.
