OSP: Taylor Swift CSP - Language and Representations

Narrative

1.) Taylor Swift re-recorded her earlier albums due to a scandal regarding Scooter Braun who sold T.S's earlier albums for 300 million dollars. She re released them in order to get back full custody of her "art".

2.) T.S chose to make the short film because it was an attempt to "control her own narrative", including the short film as well as re-releases of her previous albums.

3.) Another example of of T.S using media to construct her own image is through her social media where she deliberately uses posts for self advertisement for both her image and promotion for her creative work, only showing viewers what she wants them to see.

T.S Textual Analysis

1.) T.S's website is constantly changing in order to perpetuate her self promotion and advertising of her creative work however the house font and logo remains consistent. Consisting of a plethora of different images of herself as well as descriptions of each of her eras, her entire website is catered for her large fan base of "swifties".

2.) T.S's Eras tour micro-site consists on a plethora of images from said tour as well as external links to videos of live performances, set lists and music videos. Also within less than 3 seconds of scrolling their is a link to merchandise within the archive which emphasises on T.S's capitalistic nature. There is a chance for audience participation through "Swifties, show us  your tour photos! #TSTheErasTourFilm", meaning that T.S continues to strictly control her fan interactions, choosing from posts specifically in order to emphasise the image that she wants to continue.

3.) Taylor Swift's twitter feed consists of professionally catered images that are posted deliberately to endorse and continue the image of T.S that she wants herself. Her Twitter bio includes self promotion for collaborations between herself and other mainstream film franchises (Toy Story) as well as a direct link to where to access her art/product.

4.) Similar to her Twitter page, Taylor Swift's Instagram is carefully curated in order to emphasis this very solid image she has created for audiences to view her through. However she limits the fan interaction due to blocking the comments, perhaps emphasising that she sets a limit to how much her fans interact with her as well as how they interact with her. The only real way to interact with her to through the paid membership on her website or purchasing tickets to a live event she introduces- both emphasising on her capitalistic ideologies since both ways mean that fans need to spend money in order to interact with her.

5.) T.S's social media presence remains stable and similar across all platforms- ranging from Instagram to twitter to TikTok and YouTube. However on YouTube, there is a prioritisation of the full extent of her creative work rather than snippets and promotions. She uses symbolic and technical codes throughout all of her social media platforms in order to convey her very deliberate image of who she wants viewers and fans to view her as.
