RBX 50 cent advert:

Technical:

There is harsh light on the persons face, highlighting the furrowed eyebrows and tense face, the shots also being a close up one aids to the tense and frustrated look on the persons face. The advert is in monochrome colours which adds to the intensity. There are two pictures in the advert placed as a collage, this could perhaps represent a duel personality or a past/present version of himself.

Written/Verbal code:

In the class text on the right hand side of the advert the "o"'s are filled, this may symbolise 50 cent's past since he had been previously shot before. There is also a repetition of the slogan "I am" which conveys a reflection of his past and how her has accepted it and it is a part of him. It is slightly unclear to what is being advertised.

Symbolic/non-verbal:

The facial expressions he wear are serious and tense, this could link to his identity. The colour scene of the advert is also dark and in black and white, this could also link to his identity, however it could also link to a history of crime due to the fingerprint document on the right side of the advert, something usually only criminals have. The slogan of "I am" emits confidence along with strength.

Narrative:

An enigma code is created with the slogan and the finger print picture on the right. Also the fact that the audience isn't aware of the backstory increased the enigma. The monochrome colours also made the advert seem more mysterious.

Action:

"No plan b" connotes that there is an unknown future of actions or trajectory also there seems to be police involvement according to the finger print picture on the right. Perhaps this links to 50 cent's identity and past.

Tide - A-level Media  Tide Advert:

Technical:

On the drawing of the woman the lighting seems to be totally even along her entire face, not focusing on anything in particulate but highlighting her entire face. Red looks to be the main colour which pops from the advert, this could be to emphasise the tide box, bringing the audiences attention to the actual product. The drawing of the woman is shown just to be a head shot, emphasising the satisfied look on the ladies face due to the product - perhaps trying to discreetly tell customers if they buy their product they'll be as happy as she is portrayed in the picture.

Written/Verbal codes:

Im assuming this advert was made in the 50's or 60's just because of how women have been portrayed here. The slogan of "tide's got what women want" prompts that tide, a washing product, brings happiness, pleasure and satisfaction to women, further connotating to the role of women throughout the 50-60s where they were limited to looking after children and cleaning. The advert tells the audience that all women want to wash using tide, not suggesting or asking it but stating it, perhaps this made the female audience more prone to buying tide over other washing aids. On the top of the advert it also states that tide is more bought than any other washing product. Adding statistics or facts to an advert whilst trying to get a product across to an audience increases the want for it.

Symbolic/non-verbal:

The woman looks up in glee whilst she hugs the tide washing product as if she loves it. The three heart icons above her and the tide also connotes that she loves the product strongly.  Again, assuming that she is a housewife and has a husband, perhaps the advert is saying that the woman loves the product more than her own husband. Im also going to assume that this advert was made by men due to the fact that in the advert the woman is limited to her ability to wash and do chores, perhaps they are even married men so maybe they didn't mean to convey that the product can bring more satisfaction to their women than they can. Disregarding that I'm sure a portion of the audience has read the advert in that way.

Narrative:

The producers wanted to get the point across of that tide is the best washing aid in the market, by using the woman's gleeful and happy expression and actions it conveys to the audience that tide not only is bought over other other wash products but also makes customers as happy as the woman seems to be.
